At Summerhouse we offer a wide range of industry recognised qualifications, including Apprenticeships, Prestige & Equine Academies, BHS Exam Training and Transport Qualifications.

Equine Apprenticeships

Summerhouse Equestrian offers Apprenticeships through our very own Equine and Prestige Academies with our Patron Alan Davies, International Groom to Carl Hester MBE and Charlotte DuJardin OBE.

There are opportunities to work and train towards an Apprenticeship in Horse Care Level 2 or Horse Care and Management Level 3 and to give you all round, work based experience and knowledge to gain a career in the Equine Industry.

During the course you will be working towards a Diploma in Work Based Horse Care and Functional Skills qualifications as well as gaining experience in each part of the business, such as the Riding School, Competition Yard, Reception and the Show Department.

BHS Exam Training and Exam Skills Assessment Training and Courses

Summerhouse is an approved, Highly Commended BHS Exam and Training Centre supporting the NEW format of BHS exams.

We hold courses designed for students preparing for their BHS Exams. These are taken by an accredited BHS Examiner & Equestrian Qualifications GB Limited Assessor for The British Horse Society. We run Skills Assessment Record Achievement courses and individual training sessions to help you achieve the completion of your Skills Assessment Records, prior to taking your exam. You can be sure that your qualifications embed the latest research and technologies to keep you ahead in your career.

We can accommodate any of your training needs and requirements. Even if you are going for a non UK based qualification or are just looking to visit as part of a holiday for some additional training, anything is possible.

We also offer holiday courses for National and International riders looking to come to the UK for intensive training, or if you are based in the UK and would like to come for a training holiday, Summerhouse has the livery and training facilities for you.

Transport Qualifications

A new EU Regulation for transporting animals applies from 5 January 2007. If you transport animals you should make sure you know about the new rules and procedures that affect you. These rules are intended to improve the welfare of horses and ponies during transport and apply to anyone transporting live vertebrate animals in connection with an economic activity.

Type Of Qualifications Available

1st 4Sport Level 3 Award in the Principles of Transporting Horses by Road on Short Journeys – For transporting horses over 65km but under 8 hours including downtime (ie. time at a competition)

1st 4Sport Level 3 Award in the Principles of Transporting Horses by Road on Long Journeys attendant or attendant / driver – For transporting horses over 65km and over 8 hours
